It is of famous now German Op-Art line. German sculptor Herrmann Schwahn (1927 – 2003) designed this vase. He was very known bronze sculptor, graphics and painter. He worked for Hutschenreuther and then for Rosenthal since 1973. Schwahn created relief vase collection for the Rosenthal Studio Linie and many expressive vases for Hutschenreuther. Shape of the vase on this auction reminds stylized sculpture of human torso. Vase is of white background. It is heavily gilded on two sides with intense patina decor. Vase is fully glazed. Looks splendid. Hutschenreuther was well known as one of the greatest porcelain figurine makers for about 200 years. Its most famous Lion mark is a symbol of high quality and artistic design. Hutschenreuther’s art department was established in 1917. Nowadays, the Lion mark is under umbrella of Rosenthal Group. This vase is marked on the backside with standard production logo of Art Department used in 1968 - 1970. Other marking is ‘SCHWAHN’ and form number 5133/22 incised on the backside as well as printed in gold decor number 440 . Vase measures about 3 1/2” x 2 1/2" and stands 8 1/2” tall.
