Vintage Royal Copenhagen Langelinie Mermaid Collectible Glazed Porcelain Mini Wall Plate in Blue & White - Denmark Item Details: * Features a depiction of the little mermaid resting on a lone rock, in Langelinie with a ships and buildings in the background. * Langelinie is a pier, promenade and park in Central Copenhagen, Denmark, and home of the Little Mermaid statue. (see last photo in listing showing this beautiful harbor/pier!) * Shades of navy and light blues with white. * Designed by Kaj Lange. * 3.25" across/in diameter. * The bottom of the plate is marked: Royal Copenhagen, Denmark, Fajance, 2-2010, Langelinie, with painters mark below. * Since 1775, every piece of porcelain that has left Royal Copenhagen carries its factory marks: the three waves (symbolizing the three waterways through Denmark; the Sound and the two belts (the Sound (Oresund)), the Great Belt and the Little Belt), the royal crown and the painter's mark. These are symbols of authenticity, the royal connection and the mark of handcraftmanship. * Since 1935, RC has added a small line in the trademark on almost every single piece - this small line indicates the year of production and thereby the age of the plate - this plate has a small line over the "O" in Royal, therefore denoting 1936 as the production year! * Two small existing holes in back of plate for hanging if preferred * Excellent vintage condition, no chips or cracks - some crazing under only the most discerning eyes; see listing photos! * Wonderful for a gift or for yourself to display or use to hold earrings, or treats or other dainty trinkets!
