Norman Rockwell's THE TOY MAKER Rosenthal – Selb – Bavaria Max Fritz Laughing Hare Rabbit Figurine Being offered on this auction is rabbit figurine made by Rosenthal China on their Bahnhof factory in Selb , Bavaria , Germany . This is Rosenthal model number 510-13. It is actually called ‘Laughing Hare’. Max Fritz designed this rabbit in 1929 in the series of laughing hare figurines. Max Daniel Hermann Fritz (1873 – 1948) was acknowledged sculptor and modeler. He worked for Rosenthal in 1926 – 1946. Laughing Rabbit as well as Heron and Lion Group are the most famous of his sculptures designed for Rosenthal. He also worked for Hutschenreuther and created most known Bremen Musicians group figurine for them. Figurine on this auction features adorable and funny animal. It is all white. Genuine texture of porcelain beautifully resembles rabbit’s fur. Looks splendid. It is marked on the backside with standard ‘Rosenthal Germany’ mark in green dating production of 1960s. Other marking is model number 510-13 incised on the backside. Figurine measures about 5” x 3” and stands 5 ¼” tall. Condition is immaculate with no cracks or chips found.
