Vintage Rosenthal Large Seagull in Flight Porcelain Sculpture 11.5" Wingspan by Fritz Heidenreich (1895-1966) Made in Handgemalt Germany Up for your consideration is this fabulous vintage Rosenthal "Seagull in Flight". This is the larger hard to find Seagull with the wingspan of 11.5" and depicts a Seagull in flight over blue waves. It measures 8-5/8" tall x 7-5/8" long x 6" wide. You have to see this item to appreciate it, pictures just can't capture the beauty because it is just stunning! The lifelike Seagull soars, skimming the waves and beaches displaying elegance, beauty and a spectacular ability of flight. It is signed on the bottom below the wings HEIDENREICH (see pictures). This piece was designed in 1934 by the famed ceramist and sculptor Fritz Heidenreich (1895-1960) . Heidenreich was a Rosenthal employee from 1919 to 1960, and from 1946 onward the head of the art department in Selb. He always tried to find contemporary ways of expressing his sense of forms. The Seagull is one of Heidenreich's classic designs.
