Thomas Bavaria Plate 8+" Hand Painted Large Cabbage Roses Pink White Green 1930 Thomas Bavaria Plate 8+" Hand Painted Large Cabbage Roses Pink White Green 1930 Exquisite Decorative THOMAS Hand Painted 8 7/8" Cabinet PLATE by a TALENTED ARTIST, WHITE & PINK CABBAGE ROSES & THORNY Vines w/Green LEAVES, circa 1930 from Marktredwitz, Bavaria, Germany DESCRIPTION: This features a large spray of white and pink cabbage roses with yellow centers connected by green thorny vines with green and grey leaves to give depth to the painting. The background washes fade from light pink to light green to a light grey. This is very artistically decorated by a talented painter. CONDITION: The condition of this decorative plate is superb. We can find no defects or damage. There is age appropriate wear to the gold on the rim. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. Please refer to the photos to see how classically beautiful this is. DIMENSIONS: The elegant plate has a diameter of 8 7/8" and a height of 1 3/16". HISTORY/MARKS: The first porcelain factory in the town of Marktredwitz, Germany opened in 1872 and was known as Porzellanfabrik Jaeger, Thomas & Co. Fritz Thomas left the company in 1898 to open with his financial partner, Ens, his own factory in 1903 in the same town. The partnership prospered from 1903-1908, but Ens quit the partnership at the end of 1907 at which point Rosenthal A.G. in Selb became a major shareholder and ran the business as an independent subsidiary of Rosenthal. They continued to use the Thomas mark which is described as a shield with urns (or ears) on each side from 1908-1939 and during these years the company greatly grew and prospered. The Thomas & Co. Bavaria mark #1531g was used in 1930 as cited in Robert E. Rontgen's Marks on German, Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain 1710 to the Present.
